BMG IS&T needed someone to maintain content on their corporate website, bmg.com. In addition to simple content updates, BMG wanted:

  • a way to periodically update a large online listing of its artist offerings
  • make updates to its information architecture and Flash-based navigation bar
  • implement scrollable banners on the homepage
  • update their interactive Flash world map
  • have ready access to experts in technical and creative issues for consultation

Since this was BMG's primary corporate internet presence, it was also important that these issues be addressed quickly, and professionally.

the strategy

BMG IS&T contacted arvato systems because of its quality and realiability in previous development projects. arvato systems started by discussing the project scope and requirements with BMG IS&T. The site was fairly concise, and did not require frequent updates by multiple editors. Furthermore, since many of the updates involved new features or content types, a standard CMS seemed inappropriate. Instead, arvato systems worked out a maintenance contract with which BMG IS&T could contact arvato systems at any time for site updates, design services, or general questions about how to proceed with new features. arvato systems would not only maintain BMG.com, but would also create and maintain a workflow for site updates, an integration version of the site for quality assurance, a backup of the most recent site contents, site documentation, and any custom traffic and usage reports required by BMG's management.

When BMG IS&T needs to make updates to BMG.com, they don't worry about how to do it, and who. They know that sound advice, experienced developers, and talented designers are only a phone call, email, or short elevator ride away.
