The Random House Children's Books division needed a website for it's Cat in the Hat book series, to coincide with the fall 2003 premiere of The Cat in the Hat movie. The site would need to have information on the books and upcoming movie, as well as online branded activities. And it would need to be attractive and easy to navigate.

Having seen the arvato systems demo reel, Random House contacted arvato systems Business Solutions group to discuss the project. The project then commenced, with arvato systems designers working on design concepts. Using the official style guide, and direction from Random House staff, the design team created a design that reflected the style of the original books as closely as possible. The team aimed at making the site interesting to younger audiences, without alienating adult visitors. The designers also created a few variations of the navigation, to illustrate the range of available options for animation. And through the process, the design team strove for compatibility with the largest audience possible. Since this would be a website used by consumers, arvato systems understood that there would be a wide range of browser and computer configurations visiting the site. Careful consideration went into the size of the suggested layout, as well as it's implementation.
The initial Cat in the Hat design concept was accepted immediately with only minor alterations, and development was completed quickly. The site was developed, approved, and launched with no problems, and in time for the movie's fall launch. arvato systems is happy to have Random House among it's successful clients, and looks forward to working closely with them in the future.
